    International Plans

    Calling Internationally (From the US)

    • Contact us to add the International Services feature to your account to make international calls. View our international long distance plans page for more information. For texting internationally, if you have the Text Messaging service by UScellular® on your account, you’re all set to go. If you are roaming and place an international call with another carrier, you will have access to the countries available through that carrier. The call will be rated according to the international toll rates charged by that carrier, plus airtime and applicable roaming charges and taxes.
    • We make calling and texting internationally super easy. To get started:
      • Dial the international access code 011.
      • Enter the appropriate country code.
      • Dial the number you are calling.
      • If you’re sending a text message, enter message and press "SEND".
    • Right now, you can call over 200 countries and send texts to over 100 countries. We’ve made it easy to find all available country codes on our website: View country list and codes.
      Note: Country availability is subject to change. Messaging is available to certain wireless carriers' customers within a country. Please verify both country and carrier for messaging.
    • International call rates vary based on country. Most are priced at a per minute rate for international toll, plus airtime and applicable charges and taxes. For prices and more information visit our international long distance plans page. International Messaging is priced the same as domestic messaging.
      Note:
      UScellular per-minute rates are subject to change. Per minute rates only available from a customer's local UScellular home calling area. Taxes, long distance, toll, and other charges may apply. Other restrictions and limitations may apply.
    • You sure can. If you’re located in your home 'footprint' and place an international call, then the call will be billed at the UScellular per minute rate for international toll, plus airtime and applicable charges and taxes. If you are roaming and place an international call with another carrier, you will have access to the countries available through that carrier. The call will be rated according to the International toll rates charged by that carrier, plus airtime and applicable roaming charges and taxes.
    • Yes. However, we offer many plans, including our Unlimited plans, with calls to Mexico and Canada included.
    • Right now, we’re only able to block access to international calling altogether. We’re currently unable to block access to specific countries.

    International Travel Plans (From another country)

    • Yes you can. You can review our international service plans and pricing, as well as the countries and regions where our services are available and check your device to see if it is compatible with global travel. You must have completed 3 months of continuous service and your account must be in good standing to add an international service plan.
    • Setting up your phone for international use is easy. Before you travel internationally, follow these steps:
      • Contact us to add the international plan and help you set up your phone.
      • Consult the Device Tutorials to update your phone's network system select to "Automatic" or "Home Only."
      • Consult the Device Tutorials to update your phone's network mode to "Global" or "GSM."
      • Add the UScellular International Customer Care number to your contacts 865-777-8484.
    • When you are traveling follow these steps:
      • Power cycle your phone after entering the country to ensure your phone registers properly.
      • When possible, connect to a secured Wi-Fi network to save on data usage.
      • You may receive an SMS message to inform you that the international service is available.
      • You will receive (free) usage notifications:
        • If usage exceeds thresholds within a given day or month depending on your plan.
        • Based on calendar month usage; notifications are not tied to billing cycles. For example, if you go abroad on the 29th of the month, usage will be measured until the end of the month and reset on the first of the following month.
    • To call UScellular Customer Care while traveling internationally:
      • Dial Plus Sign (+), then 1, then the ten-digit U.S. number.
      • To enter the plus sign (+), press and hold “0” on the keypad until the “+” appears on your screen.
      • Calling a U.S. based mobile number of someone who may be traveling internationally with you:
        • Dial Plus Sign (+), then 1, then the ten-digit U.S. number.
      • A mobile phone always keeps its country code and area code no matter where it is. For example, a customer is traveling internationally with a friend and the friend’s mobile phone number is 309-555-1426. To call your friend while in the foreign country dial +1-309-555-1426.
      • Follow these steps when calling the U.S. while traveling internationally:
        • Dial Plus Sign (+), then country code, then local number with area code (if applicable).
        • Calling other countries while traveling internationally:
          • Dial Plus Sign (+), then country code, then international number.
      • To call UScellular Customer Care while traveling internationally:
        • Dial Plus Sign (+), then 1, then the ten-digit U.S. number.
        • Example: +1-865-777-8484.
    • When you return to the U.S. consult the Device Tutorials to switch your phone's network mode back to LTE/CDMA.
